Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is this zine about?

Neon Strings is a JJBA zine centered around Jolyne Cujoh and the colors of the rainbow. It will be an art only zine, where each artist is assigned a certain color and once formatted in the zine, the colors will flow together like a rainbow.

  • Is it for profit or for charity?

For profit. Each contributor will get a cut of the profit as well as a free copy of the zine for their work. Depending on how sales go, we would also gift them a free full bundle of the zine that includes merch.

  • Is this physical or digital only?

Both.

  • How many contributors are you accepting?

To keep the colors simple, we will only be accepting a select number of contributors for the zine, roughly around 30 artists.

  • What are the specifications for the zine?

This zine will be digital A5 portrait style at 300DPI RGB. Fanfiction should be no less than 500 words and no more than 7K words.

  • Does the art have to solely focus on Stone Ocean, or can we draw anything?

Yes, you can draw Jolyne with anything you like, such as fashion, travel, pets, vehicles, etc. The only constraint is that it has to be Jolyne focused and use the color you are assigned.

  • Is this zine NSFW or SFW?

The zine will be SFW and rated T for teens in case of blood, violence, and slight nudity.

  • Are OCs allowed?

No. We want this to focus solely on the character’s from JJBA, specifically Jolyne.

  • Are ships allowed?

We would like to keep the focus on Jolyne so we will not be including ship focused works. Characters can appear in the work, but please keep the focus to Jolyne.

  • Are minors allowed to apply?

Yes, so long as they're 16+.

  • Will you be accepting traditional art?

Yes, so long as the artist is able to give a high quality scan of their finished piece in the correct file format.

  • Will contributors be assigned a color?

Yes, this is to keep everyone organized. We will allow artists to trade colors with each other, so long as both agree to it and let the moderators know.

  • Are all parts and characters allowed?

Yes, so long as Jolyne is still the focus.

  • Can contributors apply as both zine artists and merch artist?

Yes they can!

  • Is collaboration allowed?

Collaboration is not allowed. Each contributor will work on their piece individually.

  • Are there any limitations to the distribution of my contribution to the zine?

All we ask is that you refrain from posting the full piece to any social medias until 1 month has passed since the last of the pre-orders have shipped out. Cropped previews of your work can be posted three days before pre-orders open. You, the contributor, retain all rights to your work and you can do with the work as you please, ie create prints to sell online or at conventions.

  • How will contributors be compensated?

All contributors will receive both a physical and digital copy of the zine. If sales go well, we would also like to send out full bundles with the merch to contributors for their work as well.
